Steampunk

So yesterday.

Yesterday I found out about something INCREDIBLY EPICLY AWESOME. This awesomeness is called Steampunk. Steampunk is a sort of cross between Victorian/old fashioned clothing and mechanical gadgets and gears. So, since I am a fan of old fashioned dresses and clothing, and I particularly like fantasy twists to things, (if that makes sense...) I obviously fell in love the second I found out about it. Literally. Love at first sight. No kidding. But what is Steampunk? Well here's the definition given from Google:

steampunk

Web definitions
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and...

If you want to read more, here's the website:

Or go to this website which is way better than Wikipedia for a reason of which is unknown:

So after all this excitement that has lingered inside me for a few hours, I am now on a new phase (way too many phases way too quickly. But what can you do?) called ... drum-roll please ... Steampunk! (I know, what a surprise right?) I already drew a picture for it :3 I think I have some kind of disease or something... But anyway, I also want to add that I really, really, really, really, really want to make a costume someday. Probably over the summer since right now I'm a little overbooked with school... I hope it won't turn out to be one of those projects that ill just disappear after a few months and that I will never end up doing... I also really want to go to a Cosplay event in it. TOO MANY PLANS. I hate being lazy. But here is my creation:

I decided to make a middle class adventurer with not too many gadgets at hand. I decided to go simple at the beginning so that I can get the hang of all of this. I am, though, SUPER proud of this one because of all the tiny details I included and of the shading. I think this is my favorite one so far. I am so proud of myself. Sorry for being so self centered and all but I think I deserve a pat on the back or something. The only thing that I'm not so proud of are the hands. But I've never been good at hands so I'm not too worried.

Voila. You have just witnessed the start of my Steampunk phase. Good luck. You'll be needing it! But as a side note; if any of you have become interested in this (like me) and want to know more. I have been on this website for at least three hours straight just looking at all the stuff they had. It is literally a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I love it and I hope you'll love it too! Click here to be transported to the website. But please, if any of you love this as much as I do, or more, or less, or whatever, please leave a comment so we can fangirl about it together! or fanboy about it if you're a boy... if that exists... And one last thing, if any of you have drawn or made anything related to this, post a picture! I want to see what creations you have made!

Give Us a Spin!

Hey guys! So coming up in my life is the middle school prom (I bet most of you who are older than me are going "Laaaaame. High school prom is sooooo much better!" and all others who are younger or the same age as me are going "OMGOMGOMGOMG! This is so exciting!!") and - I think that I'm speaking for all girls here - the dress might me one of the most exciting parts of the whole event. Now personally, I am a bit of a tomboy which means that it is literally THE HARDEST THING to find... EVER. I really really really want to wear a dress (because I am not a complete tomboy, you might say I'm a hybrid...) but I haven't liked ANY dresses I've seen so far! All of my friends have theirs and I'm in my corner rocking myself back and forth thinking If I don't get a move on, I'm going to be going to Prom in a dirty sweater and jeans! This thought terrifies me. Not really, but it makes it sound more dramatic... Anyway, so I talked to my mom the other day about this HUGE crisis that's happening in my life right now (because finding a dress for prom is way more important than exams. Totally.) and she suggested making my own. This might sound quite expensive or whatnot but according to my mom, it would be cheaper than buying a dress (in Europe, everything is ridiculously expensive. Especially clothes) and it would be the perfect size. It would be completely unique (none of that awkwardness when somebody has the same dress as you), there would be nothing that I don't like about it (because I designed it myself) and I can choose the fabric so that it will be nice and comfortable! So here are the designs I drew, they're different colors because I don't know which one to pick... The girl I drew looks like me (with slightly redder hair because I like red heads :3 ) so please leave a comment on what you think about it and which color you prefer... Can't make up my mind!!!!

T Shirts

Suit up! OK, that was a really bad entrance but it was gonna be awkward otherwise... Anyway, a few weeks ago it was my friends birthday. Actually, it was two of my friends birthdays! So, for their birthday (this is like the third time i'm saying birthday in only three sentences...) I made them T Shirts! And they arrived today! (I know, I'm really late on the present giving thing but I did give them a small one before hand to wait! Check out my post called Movember if you want to know what it is!) I know this may not sound like the most amazing idea ever but if you're ever hesitating or don't know what to get for your friend/family member/annoying person who demands a present from you, a personalized T Shirt is a really great idea!
You can do this in a few ways, you can:

  • Draw on a light colored T Shirt with special pens made to draw on fabric (these are usually found in toy shops for little kids. At least that's where I found mine...)
  • You can iron a picture on a blank T Shirt (I've never done it but my friend has... I would deeply recommend looking it up on the internet... mostly for security reasons and if you ever want to see that picture ever again.)
  • Or you can send it to a company where they print out your own personalized T Shirt. If you live in the US or Canada, there's this great side called http://www.customink.com/ where you can design sweaters, pants, hats, shirts, water bottles, anything! And they have a wide range of fonts and pictures you can use (in addition to your own). For people who live in other countries (like me), I went to a near by printer shop where they will gladly print your picture to a T Shirt. If that doesn't work you can use a little website I like to call Google!
So, as you may have guessed, I used the third option for my friends though in the past I would amuse myself with drawing pretty pictures on white shirts (if you have kids, this is a great activity to do at home!)

Here are the pictures of the finished shirts that I make for my friends Jiwon and Lea.

You can really be creative when you make these shirts for your friends/family/annoying person who demands a present from you! You can put a friendly message, an inside joke, a picture of their favorite band, anything! Another fun thing to do is to add a few "accessories" to it. Sew on buttons, ribbons, some fancy lace on the sleeves (this is more of a girly thing boys unless you really enjoy frilly ribbons on your shirts) anything to make it personal! If you want a more trashy look you can rip the sleeves or add something more rebellious... I don't know what that would be, that's why I put three little dots.

...

Bye!

P.S: For all of you who desire to see my shirt in action (which means being worn) then please go to my my friend's - Jiwon - Blog! Click on the MUSTACHIO (by mustachio I mean the word.... but not this one, the one before that). For all of you who are following my blog (thanks!!!) then you will have already found a link to her blog earlier on.... and now for the final word: Bye.
